Solar Energy System Service in Abuja: ECOHOME

On 29 December 2025, the power went off all across Nigeria. It happened in the afternoon, before dinner. Abuja was one of only two places that still had any power that day. But it was very little — only a tiny bit for a very big city.

That night, you could hear the same sound everywhere in Abuja. Generators. People turning them on, one by one. The next morning, long lines of cars waited to buy fuel.

I make solar products for a living. I own a factory in China called YDSL. I have sold solar products for sixteen years, to more than thirty countries. But that night, I was not thinking about my business. I was thinking about the sun. Abuja gets so much sun. So why does it have so little power? The big power line, called the grid, breaks almost every month. That did not feel right to me.

So we started ECOHOME here in Abuja. That is the short reason why.

This is not an advert. It is a simple, honest story about what a real solar energy system service means in this city, what to watch out for, and how we do it our own way — because we make the parts ourselves.

Why a factory from China opened a solar company in Abuja

For years, I did what most factories do. I sold big boxes of parts to traders. Then I said goodbye at the port and never saw them again.

But here is the problem. The person who buys the parts is not the person sitting in a house in Gwarinpa six months later, when something stops working at 2 in the morning. Nobody is left to fix it.

So we stopped doing only that. ECOHOME is our own company, right here on the ground. We are at NAF Valley Estate, Asokoro, Abuja. We are not a shop that just sells someone else’s name. The solar panels, the battery storage, the inverters, and the car chargers all come from our own factory, YDSL. Then we plan them, set them up, and stay to help when you need us. If you feel that most renewable energy companies in Abuja disappear the moment you pay them, you already know the problem we are trying to fix.

What “solar energy system service” really means

Many sellers in this city just sell boxes. Some panels, a battery, a control box, and a handshake. But that is only parts. That is not a service.

A real solar energy system service is four things that work together as one plan, made just for your home and your roof — not just whatever is left in the store. Here is how we think about it:

1. A full solar power plan. First, we look at what you really use. What runs at night? How much power does your fridge and your AC need? How many hours of backup do you want? Then we choose the right size. A small flat in Lugbe and a clinic in Wuse are not the same. So they should not get the same plan.

2. Battery storage. This is just a big battery that saves power for later. The sun goes down, but your life does not stop. Good battery storage keeps your lights on at night and during the next blackout, with no generator. We make the battery big enough to really last, not just big enough to look nice on paper.

3. Inverters. Think of the inverter as the brain of the whole system. It takes the power from the sun and the battery and makes it ready for your home. A weak brain is where cheap systems fail. Our inverters work with the sun, the battery, and the grid all at once. So when the power drops, you hardly notice.

4. Car charging from the sun. Electric cars are still new in Nigeria. But they are coming. We set up solar car chargers for homes, estates, and shops. This way you can charge a car with power from your own roof, instead of a grid you cannot trust.

You can see everything we do on the YDSL solar energy system service page. The reason we do all four is simple. A real solar energy company in Nigeria should handle the whole job. A system is only as strong as its weakest part.

About those “Top Ten Solar Energy Companies in Abuja” lists

Let me be honest, because you have probably already searched for Top Ten Solar Energy Companies in Abuja and found some “best of” lists.

Most of those lists are not real rankings. They are just adverts. A company is “number three in Abuja” because they wrote the list themselves, or they paid for the spot. Not because anyone checked their work. I do marketing too, so I know exactly how those pages are made.

So do not pick a solar company in Abuja by where it sits on a list. Pick it with one easy test: who picks up the phone one year later, when something needs fixing? That one question removes most of the names you will see. The companies left after that question are the ones worth your money.

How we cover Abuja — and why making the parts matters

From our base in Asokoro, ECOHOME helps all of Abuja: Maitama, Wuse, Gwarinpa, Lugbe, Lokogoma, Kubwa, Jabi, Life Camp, Apo, and the areas around them. We help homes, estates, small shops, clinics, and schools.

Here is why we can stand behind our work when many others cannot. There is no middleman between the factory and you. When a part is needed, it comes from our own factory. We do not run around asking three sellers who all blame each other. When the plan needs to change, we change it ourselves. That straight line — from the factory to your roof — is the difference between a solar energy system service in Nigeria that lasts ten years and one that lasts ten months.

This is also the way the country itself wants to go. The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has spent years putting up small solar power systems, because the big grid cannot be trusted. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) keeps sharing the power numbers that show why. We are doing the same thing, just for one home or one shop at a time.

Before you pay any solar company in Abuja, ask these five questions

It does not matter if you call us or someone else. Take this list with you. It will save you a lot of money and a lot of stress.

  1. Do you make the parts, or do you just sell them? Sellers can vanish. Ask who really stands behind the promise — the maker, or the person talking to you.
  2. How did you choose my battery size? If they cannot explain it from how much power you use, they are just guessing. A guessed battery will make you angry by month four.
  3. What happens when the grid goes off? After 29 December 2025, this is not a silly question. Ask them to show you exactly what your system does when the power drops to zero.
  4. Who fixes it, and how fast? A promise means nothing if the nearest helper is in another state. We are in Asokoro, in Abuja, on purpose.
  5. Can I see a system you set up over a year ago? New systems all look great. One-year-old systems tell the truth.

If a seller does not like these questions, that is your answer.

Why this matters more every year

The numbers are clear. Experts say Nigeria loses about $29 billion every year because the power is not steady. That is a huge amount of money. And the grid has broken again and again through 2024 and into 2026. Diesel is not getting cheaper. Fuel lines are not getting shorter. Every month you wait, you are quietly paying a generator tax.

So solar is not just a fancy extra. For many homes and shops in Abuja, it is now the cheaper choice over five years. You just pay most of it at the start, instead of losing it slowly, one can of fuel at a time.

Where to start

Do you want a system planned around your real needs? With battery storage big enough to last the night, an inverter that handles blackouts well, and the choice to add car charging later? That is exactly why we built ECOHOME.
